Croeso/Welcome

Welcome to Monmouth Comprehensive School. Our school community at MCS is founded upon shared values, and on the principle of Work Hard, Be Kind. We are absolutely determined to provide an exceptional standard of education for every child that comes to our school, so that they have the opportunity to lead happy and successful lives. We are an inclusive school that is ambitious for all students that join us. Students leave us after seven years of success in a rich and rewarding school experience at MCS to take the next step in whatever academic or vocational career pathway that they choose to pursue.

We are an over-subscribed comprehensive secondary school of around 1,700 students and 200 staff, including a very popular and successful Sixth Form of over 350 students and a Specialist Resource Base of around 60 students. Despite being a large school, we know each individual student well. We have a very well-resourced Wellbeing team, and support students in their wider interests and needs as well as their formal education. Our approach to Inclusion is recognised nationally as being exceptional, and we lead the development and training of other schools across the South-East Wales region.

We pride ourselves on having a rich and diverse curriculum, with all manner of opportunities for students to learn, to discover new interests and to follow their passions. Whatever the next step for MCS students after their time here, we are determined to equip them not only with excellent qualifications, but with a love of learning, resilience, self-belief and personal responsibility.

Our school culture of continuous improvement is driven by collaboration, open dialogue, and regular opportunities for student and parent voice. We recognise the transformative nature of education for our local community and wider society, and take pride in our welcoming and supportive school environment, in which students can grow and flourish.

I hope that you enjoy learning more about us on this website. If you would like to visit us in person then please do get in touch.
