SUMMER SCHEDULE 2023

Welsh Faculty

All of Year 10 and 11 have completed their Welsh oral examinations over the past two weeks.

They conducted themselves fantastically well and we, in the Welsh Faculty, are so proud of all of the work that the students put in when preparing for them.

Da iawn pawb!

Olympiad Maths Challenge

Archie Barrell, Year 11, sat the UKMT MacLaurin Olympiad Maths Challenge recently.

This is a follow-on round to the Intermediate Maths Challenge in which he scored in the top 10% of the UK.

We are delighted to say that Archie achieved a Merit Certificate.  Well done Archie!

International Languages

Routes into Languages Competition

Congratulations to Tyrrell Cullum 8LJ, who took part in the Emoji Competition as part of the Seren Foundation Event on the 29th and 30th of March.

Tyrell was a runner-up in the competition and has won a £10 book token.

Year 9 Mandarin Sessions

Students are enjoying six sessions of Mandarin through their Languages lessons as a part of our multilingual approach. Students are learning about sounds and language in addition to food and culture.

Thanks to the Confucius Institute in Cardiff for providing our lovely tutors, who are creating wonderful opportunities for our students to learn about a diverse culture and new experiences.

Songwriting with Ragsy

The Series 2 Voice UK contestant Ragsy came in to work with Year 10 this week, on a songwriting day.

Students produced a fantastic song and had a great experience.

A big thank you to Ragsy and Gwent Music.
