Welcome back to our weekly newsletters. For new MCS parents: the newsletter comes out every Friday, with a video message as well, which can be viewed here. If you have news that you'd like to share via our newsletter, perhaps of student successes or community events, then please let us know by email: MonmouthComprehensive@monmouthshireschools.wales.
It's been a delight to welcome our students back for the new academic year. Staff have worked hard to ensure everything is in place, and we have all hit the ground running. In the welcome assemblies this week, I looked at the opportunities in the year ahead with each year group, as well as highlighting the core values of our school community. If we all work hard, and are kind to one another as well as ourselves, then amazing things will happen.
Our exam results this summer were once again very strong, and again considerably above all national performance levels. It's a joy to be able to celebrate on results days with students, and many congratulations to everyone from the exam years 10-13 last year for their hard work, their perseverance, and their outcomes.
I hope that the following is helpful in terms of getting back into school routines:
- Please support your child to develop the habit of checking their bag for relevant equipment on a frequent basis – the evening before the next school day is often the best time to do this.
- Our Ready to Learn room is available to support students before school if anyone needs to borrow equipment or uniform.
- If you have any questions about your child's education here, the best first stop is to contact their form tutor, who may direct you elsewhere if they are not able to answer the query themselves. Contact details are on our website.
- There are a number of Parent Information Evenings coming up (see below for dates). We will contact parents of specific year groups separately regarding arrangements.
Many thanks for your support – we all look forward to a positive, enjoyable and successful year together.
All best wishes
