News from MCS
Newyddion o YGT

19 06 26

Annwyl bawb - I hope you have had a good week. You can view my video this week here.

Next week is due to be particularly hot, with a possible heatwave, and so students will be permitted to wear either school PE kit or our summer uniform (i.e. no blazer) for next week. We will keep an eye on the forecast to make further decisions. Please also ensure your child has a refillable water bottle and has applied sunscreen. A reminder also that we have INSET days on Thursday and Friday next week, and so school will be closed to all students.

As explained in my video, we have been having further discussions with students this week about the move to trousers or shorts in September. The feedback is that they are keen to have choice regarding style, and to meet this request we have put together a guide to permitted styles - please click here to view it. We will take students through these options again in upcoming assemblies that Mrs Davies and I hold every year around this time regarding next academic year. A reminder also that we are happy to support any families who have bought skirts for next year in advance and are unable to return them to the retailer. Please contact your child's Head of Year in the first instance regarding this. As well as this, additional support is available for any family who require support with uniform purchasing - this is an existing and ongoing offer, not one that is tied to the move to trousers or shorts only. Again, please contact your child's Head of Year in the first instance.

And finally, tickets are available for our lower school show of 13 Jr. - the shows always sell out so please book now to guarantee your seat. You know our wonderful PEA faculty and students put on a great show every time, and having heard some of the rehearsals, I can say that this one will once again be fantastic. CLICK HERE to book your tickets (only 34 left for Thursday night!)

I wish you all the best for what looks like being a very warm weekend for us all.

Secondhand Uniform

MCS Friends are delighted to announce that we will be partnering with Bridges Community Shop to sell second-hand uniform from July 2026. This is great news as both charities will benefit from the sale of donated, pre-loved good condition uniform.

As we approach the end of the academic year, please donate any unwanted uniform to the Friends for resale in the Bridges shop. You can drop off any donations at Reception in school or pop it in one of the handy collection bins.

Donations of blazers, jumpers, ties and PE Kit are particularly welcome. All items should be in good, resaleable condition, please.

Friends Meeting

Our next meeting of the Friends is on Tuesday 23rd June at 7.30pm in The Punch House, Monmouth - all are most welcome.

At this meeting we will be allocating funds to the various subject Faculties. Faculties can request money to fund resources or events to support their subjects. It's always good to spend the money we have raised over the year!

Wellbeing/Lles

As the weather is forecast to be extremely hot next week, we would ask that all students come to school with a bottle of water or refillable bottle to ensure they remain hydrated during the day.

Bottles of water may be purchased from the Food Hall, but parents may wish to ensure that refillable bottles are brought from home, to ensure student allowances are not eaten into by constantly purchasing them from school. Additionally, this reduces the use of single-use plastics at school.

Sunscreen and hats may also be advisable.
