Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you all enjoyed a restful and relaxing Easter break. Please click here for this week's video.

The start of term has been incredibly positive; I have been particularly impressed by our students with upcoming summer exams. They are displaying a fantastic work ethic and a clear determination to make the most of these final weeks before the exam season begins in early May.

Regarding revision for these exams, our mantra is "little and often." While marathon study sessions can lead to exhaustion, establishing a consistent daily habit is vital for students to feel fully prepared and confident. There is a lot of support and guidance available from us here, so please  do not hesitate to ask.

I will be speaking to students in assemblies next week regarding conduct within the local community. While the vast majority of our students are excellent ambassadors for our school, there have been a small number of incidents where behaviour has not been acceptable. This includes conduct on the way to and from school, as well as during evenings and weekends.

To be clear, student behaviour in the community is subject to the school’s behaviour policy and sanctions if there is a link between those actions and the good order of the School. Regrettably, I have had to issue significant sanctions recently for incidents occurring outside of school hours. For almost all of our students, this is not a concern, as they are thoughtful of others in our community, and demonstrate respect and politeness. However, I feel it's important to ensure all families are fully aware of this, to inform required conversations about where your child goes after school and at weekend, and who they are with.

Finally, I am delighted to announce that we have raised almost £3,000 for St David’s Hospice in memory of Mrs. Lewis. We will keep the donation page open until the end of Monday, April 20th, before transferring the funds to the charity. I am incredibly grateful to everyone for your overwhelming generosity toward such a worthwhile cause.

In a further tribute, Mrs. Lewis’s form (11CLE) has planted rose bushes at the front of the school. This is a beautiful, lasting reminder of her presence and the profound impact she had on so many within our school community.

Service Bus 69

MCC Passenger Transport Unit advise that from 5th May 2026, the closure of the A466 between Bigsweir Bridge and Redbrook for approx. 8 weeks, means buses will divert via Newland Road and Stowe Road, adding about 15 minutes to each journey.

Please note that the times of the key school journeys have changed too. Crucially, in the mornings, the main journeys to Monmouth Comprehensive run a few minutes earlier up to the diversion point.

Any queries should be directed to MCC PTU -passengertransportunit@monmouthshire.gov.uk

Development of Air Quality Information and advice system

Volunteers needed!

Help us to develop a system to support cleaner air for our communities

Air pollution poses a serious risk to physical and mental health outcomes. The aim of this project is to develop an online Air Quality Information and Advice System, that provides localised air quality information and advice about how to reduce exposure and emissions in your community.

At this time we are looking for volunteers who live in any of the following areas of Wales: Swansea, Newport, Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire. If you choose to take part we will ask you come along to an online focus group (lasting around 60-90 minutes). During this, we will show you the proposed system and ask you to tell us what you think?

Upon completion, participants will be compensated for their time with a £25 shopping voucher.

If you would like any further information please contact Dr Menna Price, Swansea university (m.j.price@swansea.ac.uk)

If you are interested in being a participant, please register your interest by answering a short survey using the following link:
