Year 9 student Tyler Tuckfield recently attended the Pike Club’s annual convention in Nottingham. This is a national club across the UK, with over 30,000 members and 10,000 juniors. Tyler spends a lot of his spare time fishing alongside his rugby.
At the convention, Tyler was recognised as Junior Pike Angler of the Year! He won the award based on the dedication and enthusiasm he’s shown to others in the club over the past year, and he was absolutely blown away.
Congratulations, Tyler, a brilliant achievement.

The NSEA team is flying at the moment. Jessica Saunders, Ruby Creed, and Darcey Purkis recently competed together at Hartpury in the NSEA show jumping.
Jessica went clear in the 80/85, and as a team they have now qualified for a place at the Championship Plate at Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire this October.
Well done, girls.

Cadet Duberley and Cadet Gilmore were also chosen to do 'The Passing of the Flame of Remembrance', where they took on their roles with great pride.
2025 commemorates the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, a crucial moment in World War II when the Royal Air Force bravely defended the United Kingdom against vigorous enemy airstrikes.
Anyone wishing to look at coming to see what the Air Training Corps is all about and has to offer is welcome to call in on training day sessions:-
Monday 7-9pm and Friday 7-9.30pm

National Manufacturing Day/Diwrnod Cenedlaethol Gweithgynhyrchu

Thank you to Tri-Wall UK for hosting our Y11 Engineers on National Manufacturing Day, supporting our long-term initiative to develop the relationship between local businesses and MCS. The students had a fantastic problem-solving experience as four teams competed head-to-head in building F1 cars, with all teams successfully completing the challenge.
This coincides with the Green Power Car which was provided to us through the Welsh Government and MCC schools STEM program. Tri-Wall has kindly agreed to assist in organising a challenge for our students to design the car’s body. Looking ahead, there will be an exciting opportunity for the car to race against other secondary schools in Monmouthshire.
Tri-Wall also gave us excellent feedback, praising the Year 11 Engineering students for their outstanding behaviour, presentation and engagement throughout the visit.

The Form have been learning the routines of cooking in the Food Technology rooms, including the expectations of working to prepare their food, make it and then to clean up after themselves.
An excellent job done by all with some fantastic faces made.
