A reminder that the school nursing service will visit the school to offer students in Years 7-11a nasal flu spray vaccine on Monday 2nd December and Tuesday 3rd December.

The NHS recommends that your child has a flu vaccination every year. 

It’s very important to protect your child from flu to make sure they stay as healthy as possible. The best flu vaccine for most children is a nasal spray. This is the vaccine that will be given on the day.

To help make sure the vaccine is suitable for your child, and they don’t miss out, please take time to read the information and follow the link to complete the electronic consent form as soon as possible, before the planned vaccination date, no later than Tuesday 26 November.  Any consent forms submitted after this time may result in your child not receiving their vaccine on the day.

Following the success of previous years, we will once again be holding a Bake Sale for Children in Need on Friday 15^th November, during breaks 1 and 2.

We would be extremely grateful for students to bring in cakes to sell, to raise funds for this increasingly important cause. Please drop baked goods at reception in the morning, and collect your containers from there at the end of the day.

As a result of our recent English Faculty Monmouth Memorials trip, our Year 8 students have produced some incredible projects, exploring World War One context in a way that is meaningful to them.

We have had poems, portraits, cakes depicting trench life, models of trench set-ups and even a hand-carved German grenade stick!

We are delighted to invite you in to view students’ impressive projects in our Year 8 Remembrance Exhibition, Wednesday 13th November, 5-7pm in the Main Atrium at MCS. 

If your child would be willing to attend the Exhibition as an ambassador for the school, talking to parents and governors about what they are learning and about their project, please could you let Mrs Curry (KS3 lead for English) know, by emailing michelle.curry@monmouth.schoolsedu.org.uk by 3pm on Monday 11th November.

There is still time for Year 9 parents and carers to register their interest in attending the information evening on Tuesday 12^th November 5-6pm. The evening is an opportunity for staff of core subjects to share what the year ahead will look like.  Please use this link:

This will be followed by a guest speaker who will share an employer's perspective on the importance of languages in business.  David Binns, CEO of Sanako UK and Ireland, has already presented to Year 9 students (as well as 490 other groups of students nationwide). We’d also like you to have the opportunity to hear his views first hand as we prepare to launch the GCSE options process in the coming term. You will also be able to see the technology we are using in language teaching.
